Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance. It enhances coordination and grace and requires much discipline and focus. Ballet strengthens the body and nurtures the spirit, while improving balance and achieving the goal of excellence through determination and commitment. Ballet should be studied first or along with other forms of dance. Ballet is a prerequisite for Pointe work, which requires very strong technique in ballet and strong ankles and feet. NO dancer should be on Pointe before the age of 12. Tap is the musical instrument of Dance. Dancers learn to make music with their feet and in turn, it enhances their rhythm, musicality, and dynamics. Tap is highly recommended for all students who wish to pursue dance extensively, and for anyone who wants to have some fun. Kids that are trained in tap are outstanding at sports in school, and at social activities. It helps with thinking fast and memorizing quickly. Leaps and Turns is a class that focuses primarily on various forms of turns, pirouettes, and exciting leaps. Because turning and leaping incorporates so much technique and skill, it is essentials to highlight on these skills exclusively in a class environment. Turning accommodates bilateral integration movement as well as teaching a dancer to use the "center" of their body to execute such moves. Leaps stems from the power and strength of the whole body, primarily the lower torso. This class is perfect for those that wish to advance their overall training. Jazz is today's dance. Television and movies utilize the free, more rhythmic, more commercial, and more fun tones of jazz. It draws on all other forms of the dance technique, blending them in clean movement. Jazz uses ballet technique for its base, branches out into more creative, energetic, and powerful movement through strength and expression. I offer a wide range of training in all styles of Jazz, from Traditional to Broadway, from Contemporary to Fosse, from LA to Branson. Jazz is a fun and expressive type of dance, and so many styles are offered providing versatility for the dancer. Hip Hop is the street style of jazz dancing. Hip Hop dancing was born in the ghettos and streets allowing kids to move freely without having to think of technique and structure. It gave these kids a sense of style and individuality, in an uninhibited environment. This street style of dance has become so very popular in the dance community and demanded among dancers in the studio. It is fast, isolated, and diverse, however, it is not as difficult as one might think. Anyone can do hip hop, as long as they provide the enthusiasm to learn it. Lyrical is an expressive dance style that stems from Ballet and Jazz technique. The body is used as an expressive tool to show emotion and feelings while dancing. Modern is an interpretive and expressive form of dance that is gaining more recognition in studios instead of only colleges. Linear extensions, angled body positions, and quick rhythmic feet give this style of dance a whole new realm. Minimal dance training required. Zumba Fitness Classes will be on Mondays and Thursdays. Cost is $6.00 per class or $35.00 for the 4 week session. |
